Learn More About Pool Doctor

Have a pool-related question? We have the answer! Check out our FAQs below to learn more about our company and services.

  • I don't have any pressure in my filter. What do I do?

Check your pressure gauges. You should have one on the filter for the inlet and another on the filter for the outlet going back into the pool. If the outlet has more than a 10 PSI difference from the inlet, then you will want to check and/or change the filter. If the pressure difference gets to 20 PSI, then you will need to service the filter right away. Our pool company can help.

  • How often do I need to test the pH in my pool?

You should check the pH daily or weekly. Our pool company can give you a personal recommendation and help you with this.

  • My pool is green. What does that mean?

There are two things that turn a pool green. One is algae, which is usually caused by a loss in your chlorine. You'll need to add chlorinating tablets to the water to fix this. The other reason a pool could be green is due to metal/minerals in the water. In this case, turn to our pool company for advice.

  • What are the different ways to chlorinate my pool?

You can use chlorine tablets or you can use salt to maintain the pool pH. Get in touch with our pool company for the supplies and help you need.

  • Is it safe to swim with chemicals?

Chemicals are required to maintain balance. You do not want to swim in a pool with no chemicals. All chemicals should be added in increments to get within the correct range and to have the proper time to dissolve and fully mix with the water. The CDC reports that swimming is the fourth most popular recreational sport nationwide. Therefore, be sure to properly chlorinate your pool in order to keep it safe for everyone using it. Reach out to our pool company with more questions you might have.
